A MAN is $100,000 richer after he checked a shopping bag full of old lottery tickets.

Aged in his 50s, the winner said he had a drawer full of unregistered lottery tickets that he had never checked.

He was going to shred them but because he was taking some old Instant Scratchies in to claim he thought he may as well check the others.

He took the lot in a supermarket shopping bag to NSW Lotteries head office at Homebush.

The winning ticket had picked up first prize in the $2 Jackpot Lottery draw 7386, drawn in March, 2001.

He plans to buy a new car.
