Can Correct Lottery Strategy Improve Your Chances For A Win?
Tuesday November 4, 2008
Many people have a lottery strategy, hoping that it might guarantee them some kind of win every time they play. Unfortunately, lottery strategies really cannot have much of an effect on your likelihood of a win. While choosing games with better odds will technically improve your chances of winning, the difference between the odds of Thursday Powerball and the odds of Monday Lotto would generally not be considered significant enough to make a huge difference in your chances of winning big.
A common lottery strategy is to keep track of the numbers that have been drawn recently. The idea is that numbers which have been drawn lately or frequently will be unlikely to be drawn again. While this may sound quite logical at first, it is incorrect. The probability of any single lottery number being drawn is not related to lottery history at all. Every draw is unique, with every number having an equal chance of being drawn. Differences in your probability of winning can be the result of different kinds of entries or from placing multiple entries, but generally you would need to spend an incredible amount of money in order to place enough entries to tip the lottery odds in your favour for a win.
