Do you have a lottery strategy?
28 July 2008
Many people have a lottery strategy, but is yours based on reason or lucky charms? Some people who think they have a sound lottery strategy are mistaken, as lottery strategy can really only involve manipulation of game options if it is going to have an effect.
A very popular lottery strategy has been to keep track of the numbers that have been drawn recently. The idea is that if these numbers have been drawn repeatedly in recent draws, they are unlikely to be drawn again in upcoming draws. Unfortunately, the probability of Australian lottery draws is unaffected by previous lottery draws. This means that regardless of how many draws in a row the number 2 has come up, the number 2 still has the same chance of coming up in the next draw.
Playing the game by choosing different lottery systems or by choosing a game like Thursday Powerball where putting in an entry for each number as the Powerball with the same winning numbers for each entry could have an effect on your wins can be effective lottery strategies. In the end, though, most people will forget strategy and just have fun by putting in an entry for an Australian lottery.
