Jackpot: Two South Australian entries, worth $20m each, come up trumps in Oz Lotto draw
TWO South Australians are this morning collectively about as wealthy as the tiny island nation of Tuvalu after coming up with the division one winning entries, worth $20m each, in Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw.
One winner has been revealed as a “hardworking mum” from Orroroo and lottery officials said she “cried tears of joy” when she received the life-changing news on Wednesday morning.
The woman, who has opted to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket from IGA Orroroo.
SA Lotteries say they have no way to contact the second winner, who was not registered, but the ticket was purchased from Collinswood Pharmacy, 37 North East Road, Collinswood.
The two lucky South Aussie winners were the only division one prize winners in Australia.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1239 were 15, 3, 16, 5, 25, 30 and 1. The supplementary numbers 40 and 12.
SA Lotteries said the Orroroo woman was “ecstatic” to learn about her huge windfall.
She reportedly said: “Oh my God! This is absolutely life changing for so many people in our lives. This is insane!
“My brain is not going to rest today. This is crazy.
“I’d heard there was a winning ticket in the region but didn’t think it was me.
“Fair dinkum. I can’t believe this.
“I’m from a long line of hard workers. Every time I stop and think about it, I think ‘how many people can I help with this?’.
“You have just made my family so happy for the rest of our lives! It’s amazing!”
IGO Orroroo owner Ahmah Ramadam told SA Lotteries he was “beyond excited” to find out he’d sold one of the winning tickets.
“We’ve only been open since the beginning of this year and until now the biggest amount on a ticket we have sold is $2,000 – now we can add an extra four zero’s to that number!” he said.
“I just can’t believe it, I’ve never had so many people calling me or texting me, it is just great news for our small country town.
“We are so happy that it was won by a local Orroroo and a regular customer.
“Congratulations to our winner, we hope they enjoy this life-changing win!”
Last night’s draw is the biggest division one prize win in South Australia since 2014 when two people won $15m playing Oz Lotto.
The single biggest win in SA came up in 2012 when a Powerball winner walked away with $50m.
SA Lotteries spokeswoman Bronnie Spencer urged anyone buying a lotto ticket to register it with an Easiplay Club card.
“It is really important that you register your entries so that all of your prizes are secure and we can contact you directly with the good news in the case of a win!” Ms Spencer said.
She urged anyone who believes they may be the second winner from last night’s draw to contact SA Lotteries immediately on 131 868.
